if you buy the trilogy from any source, as long as the code isn't already used, then you have the game permanently for life. You also shouldn't lose anything you have already got on your trial character and will just go straight into a full account

As soon as you add a full game serial code to your account it will unlock that part of the game, for life.
So if you buy from the in-game store then you will already be logged in to your account and the games you buy will just be added and you'll unlock the content. If you buy a retail copy of the game (in a box) then you must first log in to your trial account, then go to the Manage Account options and add your new game serial codes there, that will then add those full games to your account. Good luck and have fun. |

Exactly how I did mine. I had the 10 hour trial and went ahead and made my purchase via bank card online at the store. That's it - bang you are set. You will notice when you go back you will have extra slots and there will no longer be reminders to purchase the game before time runs out.

I recommend offgamers. Bought every campaign and trilogy from there at least once and you can get everything you need for $30.

Though every now and then it takes a dump, I bought the trilogy and EotN from Steam. Never had any real hassles with it though.

Why on Earth would you want to go through steam? In my Guild Wars folder I have only 2 files GW.exe and GW.dat when I execute it runs just Guild Wars and nothing else.

Maybe it was on sale.... That's how I purchased my 5th account (trilogy) because it was on sale. After I did that I just copied/pasted the serial key from Steam into the stand alone client. (Not interested in having multiple copies of the game files installed on my HD.) One nice thing about purchasing the game through Steam (other than cost) is having a "permanent" record of your serial key should you ever need it (for account related issues and you need to contact support).

Question answered, and this isn't the place for debating steam vs not using steam, or discussing technical issues..
